“I work 50 hrs a week!”
“I didn’t sleep well!”
“I have kids!”
“I don’t know if I believe in God anymore!”
“What do I say?”
“I’m exhausted!”
“I don’t see God anywhere right now!”
The list of excuses goes on and on. I’m currently a CORE Discipleship Intensive student at Lifeway. I’ve been challenged to set aside time for Jesus. I remember asking my husband, “what am I supposed to do when I visit Lifeway’s prayer room?” He chuckled, “Um, you could pray.” We both laughed. I was still discouraged because I am in a stage of life where I pray sentence prayers to get through my days.
Three weeks into the current semester, I am feeling the benefits of daily Jesus time. My mind is calmer. I have more inner joy. I am sleeping deeper.
Do you know God hears our every sigh? I don’t even have to form words when I sit with Jesus. I have been depressed and troubled in the past. Motherhood has knocked me down. Death has visited my family many times throughout my life. I have been weary. I have had zero words for Jesus at times. Zero!
“You know what I long for, Lord; You hear my every sigh.” | Psalm 38:9
Please, friends, get away with Jesus. Make it a priority. It might seem weird at first but I promise you’ll begin to crave time with Him. You’ll probably need to schedule it. Set an alarm on your phone. Find worship music to play in the background. Journal your thoughts. Go near to Jesus regardless of how you feel!
I can promise you’ll find Him because He promises to find you every single time.
James 4:8 | “Come near to God and He will come near to you.”
Matthew 11:28 | “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
