Roe v. Wade Overturned

On Friday, June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court of the United States overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. The six to three ruling means that abortion on demand is no longer a constitutionally protected right in America. The justices sent the matter back to the states, where elected representatives will now decide what steps to take legislatively for their constituents.

Lifeway Church views this decision as a win for the sanctity of human life. We believe that God alone confers life (Genesis 1:1-31), and God alone must decide when it is to be ended (Psalm 31:14-15). Because an unborn child is sacred and blessed of God, we believe that we have the responsibility to protect the life of the unborn (Jeremiah 1:5; Luke 1:41). It is our firm conviction that abortion and euthanasia of aged, mentally incompetent, terminally ill and otherwise handicapped, for reasons of personal convenience, social adjustment or economic advantage, are morally wrong.

While we indeed celebrate this victory, we also realize that it does not mean the end of the struggle. Please join us as we continue to pray:

  • Pray for all mothers who may be struggling with an unplanned pregnancy, and do all we can to assist them.
  • Pray for the protection of all pro-life agencies and workers, many of whom have already come under attack.
  • Pray for the State Legislature of Pennsylvania as they work to craft new laws that will become the State’s stance on the issue of abortion.
  • Pray for the November election, that candidates who are pro-life may be elected and sent to the state capitol to help craft new laws.

This is how we fight our battles.
